About Gatlinburg

Dining

While the cabin kitchen is fully equipped  and able to support a full family meal, we understand you may want to get out or stay out on your vacation.  There are many great restaurants in the area.  Whether you are looking for breakfast, a quick meal or a celebratory dinner we are sure you will find an option that meets your expectations.

The below link is to a great site called Dining in the Smokeys.  Be sure to check out Red Rooster Pancake House.  It's one of our favorites.

Our cabin is located about half way up the mountain to Ober Gatlinburg.  This mountain top entertainment and dining destination offers skiing and year round ice skating along with several other attractions and lots of restaurants.

You can enjoy the scenic drive up or head back down and take the aerial tram.

The Great Smokey Mountains National Park

The Great Smokey Mountains National Park is the most visited park in the country. There are miles of roads and trails with spectacular views.  The entrance to the park is just minutes from our cabin.  Be sure to visit as we're sure you will fall in love with the waterfalls, trees, rivers and natural beauty of the park.

Black Bears

Yes, there are lots of black bears in Gatlinburg.  The population in the Great Smokey Mountains is around 1600.  Black bears are normally not aggressive, but these are strong, territorial, protective animals.  They are not friendly and do not want to be petted or hugged.  Please keep your distance and stay safe.

We have had several sightings of black bears at our cabin.  There is a motion light on the porch and another light on the porch that is on from dusk till dawn.  Please use caution when going outside, especially at night or early morning.  Please place all trash in the bear-proof trash bins at the entrance of the driveway.
